As part of our ongoing commitment to interoperability and open standards, MICOO is taking a major step forward in the evolution of digital credentials.
We are excited to introduce full support for Open Badges 3.0, bringing verifiable credentials (VCs) into the core of the MICOO ecosystem.
This marks a significant milestone—not just in terms of technology, but in how credentials can be trusted, shared, and verified across systems and borders.
Verifiable Credentials with Open Badges 3.0
MICOO credentials are now issued as Open Badges 3.0, aligned with the W3C Verifiable Credentials data model.
This means that every credential:
- is cryptographically verifiable
- can be independently validated without relying on MICOO
- is portable across platforms and ecosystems
- supports decentralized trust models
By adopting Open Badges 3.0, we are enabling a new level of trust and interoperability for organizations issuing credentials through MICOO.
Official Open Badges Verifier (1EdTech)
To support this transition, we have also introduced a public verification tool based on the official standard.
Verifier available at: https://obverifier.micoo.io/
This verifier is:
- based on the original code provided by 1EdTech Consortium
- hosted and maintained by MICOO
- fully aligned with Open Badges 3.0 specifications
Anyone can use this tool to verify credentials—whether issued by MICOO or other compliant platforms.
This initiative reflects our commitment not only to adopting standards, but also to actively contributing to their accessibility and real-world usability.
Commitment to Standards and Ecosystem Growth
Supporting Open Badges 3.0 is part of a broader vision:
- enabling true interoperability between platforms
- aligning with global and European frameworks
- contributing to a trusted, open credential ecosystem
By providing both compliant credentials and official verification tools, MICOO positions itself as a reliable infrastructure for the future of digital credentials.
